2023 Fall Season

Careful What You Wish For

Queen Midas had it all…a kingdom…a castle….a beautiful daughter…and more luxuries than one could imagine…but she also had greed.

Mvt. 1
Our story begins when our Queen discovers an object that sparks her curiosity – a mysterious crown. Intrigued, she picks up the crown and puts it on her head. Her royal cape turns to gold. Knowing that she has stumbled upon something special, she continues her journey. Repertoire: “You Should See Me in A Crown,” by Billie Eilish and “This Land” from The Lion King, by Hans Zimmer.

Mvt. 2
Our Queen realizes the power she has gained. While wearing the crown, she can turn anything to gold. She can turn statues to gold. She can have whatever she wishes for.
Lookout for an exhilarating woodwind and rifles waltz feature. Repertoire: “Ständchen,” by Franz Schubert and “I Just Can’t Wait to be King,” from the Lion King, by Hans Zimmer

Mvt. 3
We meet our Queen’s most precious possession – her daughter. Accompanied by a beautiful musical quartet, mother and daughter walk through the garden as mother turns roses to gold. Her little girl admires the beauty until the Queen accidentally turns her daughter to gold. Repertoire: “This Land” from The Lion King, by Hans Zimmer

Mvt. 4
Reeling from the guilt that resulted from her greed, this movement focuses on our percussion section in a tumultuous feature. In a frenzy, the Queen is turning everything in her path into gold, including the yard lines on the field. During the final conclusion, our angry Queen turns the entire field to gold, even our members! This leaves the audience with the moral of our story: “Careful what you wish for.”
Repertoire: “Gold,” by Imagine Dragons, “Ständchen,” (reprise) by Franz Schubert and “Lacrimosa,” from Mozart’s Requiem.
