2022 Fall Season

Immortalis

Movement I - The Arrival
We begin our story in the grand ballroom at Dracula's opulent home, He invites the town for an evening filled with music and dancing. But outside the mansion Dracula's evil followers are lurking, to do the bidding of their master. A musical overlay of Gloria Gaynor's timeless hit "I Will Survive" serves as the soundtrack to our arrival. However, the question lingers,
'who' will survive?

Movement 2 - The Party
At this time we call your attention once again to the dance floor. Our woodwinds provide the soundtrack for the most glorious dance of all, the Waltz. They come together with our color guard to provide an integrated moment halfway through the movement. As the dancing comes to an end, our guests begin to tire, and the Count plots his next move.
Movement 3 - The Bite
Count Dracula begins his plan of seduction, and our night of transformation begins. His narcissistic tendencies are revealed as we learn about his need to be wanted and his desire for immortal passion. We hear through narration about his gift of a magic rose, Dracula's preferred tool of seduction. He chooses his prey and leads her to our offering table, the beautiful melody played by our flute soloist is no match for the evil intentions of Dracula. Completely entranced, our soloist falls prey to him as he attacks her and finds his life anew with the blood of his victim.
Movement 4 - The Light

With a new sense of power, Dracula is not finished. He needs to continue his conquest to maintain his immortality. But his conquest will be cut short. A layered melody of flutes and clarinets shines above our dance floor and signals the sound of a new day - and the lives of mortals. Our attention is drawn to the window, where the only thing Dracula fears begins to rise... sun light. "I Will Survive" is heard once again, as Dracula is drawn to the window by this melody and his desire for eternity. Rays of light shine through, and bring him to his demise... and we are left to ponder our own immortality.
