2022 Program
2022 Fall Season
- "The Summit"
It takes a unique kind of bravery, strength, and fortitude to climb the world’s highest peaks. “The Summit†explores the thrills, challenges, and pains of climbing the tallest mountains of the world through imaginative and high-energy original music.
1. Base Camp
The show begins with trumpet and horn soloists signaling the dawning of a new day and with it, a new adventure. The energy of the forthcoming climb builds into an optimistic impact as our climbers prepare to embark upon the journey of a lifetime.
2. The Climb
Driving rhythms lead us to a fanfare-like thematic statement depicting the thrill of starting a new climb. Melodies soar to new heights just like our climbers, and we take in the beautiful vistas along the climb. Another triumphant impact signals the successful completion of the first leg of the journey.
3. Avalanche
Missteps can be costly in a climb, and one such misstep creates chaos. Intense and foreboding music depict the harrowing experience of fighting through an avalanche on the mountainside.
4. One Last Hope
This movement depicts the desolation that follows the harrowing avalanche. A solo horn sings a mournful yet also hopeful melody as we hear the wind whooshing through the quiet air. Our climbers must forge on, however, and we are overcome with hope as this movement builds to a beautiful climax.
5. The Summit
The climb continues as we near the summit. A trumpet solo signals that we are close, to the final steps to the mountaintop.
