2025 Fall Season

Escape from Pomepii

In the year 79 AD, the thriving Roman city of Pompeii was forever etched into history when
Mount Vesuvius erupted with little warning. But this production doesn’t simply tell the story of
the eruption—it immerses the audience in the experience of escape.
Escape from Pompeii is a three-movement journey through the final hours of a civilization on
the brink. It captures the emotional arc of a city alive with culture, shaken by uncertainty, and
ultimately overtaken by chaos.

Musical Selections

Movement I – Arrival at Apollo’s Temple opens with rhythmic energy and dark modal colors,
depicting the spiritual and civic heartbeat of Pompeii. Citizens gather at the Temple of
Apollo—vibrant, proud, and unaware of the looming danger. Beneath the ceremony and
celebration, however, the music hints at something unsettled—a faint shadow of what’s to
come.
Movement II – Warning Signs transitions to a lyrical and haunting soundscape. Subtle tremors.
A stillness in the air. A fragile beauty lingers as unease grows. The people sense that something
is coming, but they don’t yet know what. This is the calm before the storm—a moment of
emotional vulnerability and quiet farewell.
Movement III – The Escape erupts with urgency and chaos. The city falls into panic as ash
darkens the skies and the streets become rivers of fear. The music surges forward with
relentless momentum, capturing the desperation of those who run, hoping to survive. It is a
finale driven not by triumph, but by the raw instinct to endure.
