2022 Fall Season

Go West!

“Go West young man”, is a phrase often attributed to the author and newspaper editor, Horace Greeley, calling Americans to join the westward expansion of the 1800’s. The idea of growing America and searching for the American Dream was a popular sentiment during that time. Our show will explore this exciting time in America, through five distinct scenes. We begin with “Land Rush”, as ordinary folks cross the expansive midwest, in their covered wagons, looking for a new life. “Exploration” is a joyful expression of excitement and adventure, followed by “Hoedown”, a knee-slappin’ celebration after finding that perfect plot of land. After the party is over, it’s time to settle by the “Camp Fire” to reflect on a long journey, and to appreciate the new surroundings. We close with Fleetwood Mac’s, “You Can Go Your Own Way”, a nod to the idea of going out to find one’s destiny.

And now, under the field leadership of Drum Majors Kate Hildebrand and Kathy Bui(boy), the West Shore Marching Band presents, “GO WEST!”
