Introducing the 2021 Fall Marching Band Schedule

2021-02-16

USBands is proud to reveal the 2021 Fall Marching Band Schedule! With a renewed commitment to educational and operational excellence, this season will consist of nearly 100 local, regional, and national events in 10 states serving over 50,000 student-performers. Plus, thanks to our new relationship with BD Performing Arts and the Western Band Association, bands will have access to the highest quality educational commentary and analysis from a roster of nationally accredited adjudicators at all 2021 events!

“We understand now more than ever it is incredibly important that we provide these remarkable experiences for all music programs regardless of size or level of proficiency,” said USBands Executive Director, Sean King. “Our goal for the 2021 season is to revitalize and uplift music programs across the country with a focus on adjudication, accessibility, and equity for all educators and performers.”

At USBands it is up to all of us to keep music programs alive and students engaged. Most importantly, USBands provides educators with the opportunity to customize their season, choosing scheduling and venues to set their students up to achieve success.

Of course, all events and plans for Fall 2021 are presented with cautious optimism and an understanding that health and safety guidelines must be met to allow for the return of a traditional marching band season. USBands will continue to provide guidance and information to our educators and event hosts as it is received.

2021 FALL MARCHING BAND SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:

WEEKS 1 & 2 (September 11, September 18): For the first 2 weeks of our 2021 Fall Season, education will be top priority. Full adjudicator panels and clinicians will be on-site at each event to provide evaluation, commentary, and ratings in place of competition. Details for these “Clinic Days” are being finalized with each event host, but directors can rest assured that no matter where their program is at developmentally, USBands is a safe space to workshop ideas, train new members, and get into the flow of marching band season without the competitive stress.

WEEK 3 (September 25): Traditional competition begins in Week 3 with a whopping 18 events across 8 states, including a brand-new event in Myrtle Beach as the South Carolina Regional welcomes bands from across the Southeast. The 2021 Texas schedule also makes its debut this week with 4 returning events; two in the Houston area (Madisonville and Baytown) and one each in Dallas (Saginaw) and South San Antonio.

WEEK 4 (October 2-3): The Yamaha Cup is our feature event for Week 4 as the iconic MetLife Stadium plays host to the largest Regional Championship of our 2021 season. 12 local events showcase performances in New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, and Idaho. Meanwhile, two Texas events are scheduled in the San Antonio and Houston areas with

WEEKS 5 & 6 (October 9-10, October 16-17): Things really ramp up in Week 5 as we host fourteen events across the nation and see the Texas edition of The Yamaha Cup returning to Converse. Contests will also be taking place in the Dallas (Burleson), Austin (Liberty Hill), and Houston (Richmond) regions. Then, in week 6, the Naval Academy Invitational in Annapolis will be our headlining event along the Eastern Seaboard while the Quad States Championships return to the newly renovated Dakota Dome at the University of South Dakota to serve bands from the Midwest region.

WEEK 7 & 8 (October 23-24, October 30-31): As we near the end of our season, State Championship contests start taking place around the country. First, we’ll see the Maryland and New York state titles awarded in Week 7 while local events wrap up in New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. Then, in Week 8, bands from across the East Coast gather in New Jersey (Union HS & Old Bridge HS) and New England (New Britain’s Veterans Memorial Stadium) to vie for their state titles. Tentatively, West Chester University will be the site of the Pennsylvania State Championships, while a Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship will round out the week’s events in Maryland.

WEEK 9 (November 6-7): The 2021 season builds to its final conclusion with a series of Championship Events around the country in Week 9. The National Championships once again return to MetLife Stadium (Open Class) and J. Birney Crum Stadium (A Class) while the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga plays host to the Southern States. In Texas, the Remo Invitational Series returns to Austin (Round Rock) and Houston (Spring) to close out the 2021 season in the Lone Star State.
