
Mark Maguire earned his Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Rhode Island and his Master’s in Music Education from Bowling Green State University, graduating Summa cum Laude with Honors from both institutions. He has been a middle school band director for over ten years at Riverside Middle School (RI), where the concert band and percussion ensemble have consistently earned the highest ratings at state festivals.
Mark started marching drum corps playing the baritone in the East Coast Jazz from 2003 to 2005. He was named the Brass MVP for the 2005 Division II World Championship season. After ECJ, Mark marched for two years in the Cadets; earning the Division I Silver Medal in 2007.
He started teaching drum corps as a visual technician for the Jersey Surf and later for the Cadets & Bluecoats. Mark also spent several years with the 7th Regiment working in leadership roles such as visual caption head, color guard caption head, visual designer, and staff coordinator. While at 7th, the corps earned its highest placement of 5th in Open Class (2012 & 2014) as well as being a DCI World Class Semi-Finalist in 2014.
For fourteen years, Mark was an instructor & design team member for the King Philip Regional High School (MA) Marching Band. While at KP, the band earned several state and regional titles including the Bands Of America Northeast Regional Championship and continued a streak of over 30 years as a Massachusetts State Gold Medalist.
He currently works with the Dartmouth High School (MA) Marching Band, Indoor Percussion, & Indoor Winds as a choreographer. The Indoor groups are consistently at the top of their class at the WGI World Championships. The marching band has won the BOA Northeast Regional twice and is a 2023 BOA Grand National Semi-Finalist.
During the Winter Guard season, Mark teaches Blessed Sacrament. Established in 1936, Sac has an incomparable streak of 44 consecutive years as a WGI Independent World Class Finalist. He marched Sac during the 2010 season and has been an instructor for the Open and World Guards for over ten years, including the 2023 IW Silver Medal & 2024 IW Bronze Medal seasons.
Mark is also certified through the Massachusetts Judging Association to judge various captions during the fall and winter seasons, having adjudicated for MAC, MBDA, MICCA, NESBA & USBands. He also works freelance as a drill writer for high school marching bands and indoor percussion ensembles & has coached several scholastic and collegiate color guards.
