
CARLY MCCLENDON is in her second year as a graduate student at Louisiana State University where she is pursuing a Doctor of Music degree in Wind Conducting. As a graduate assistant Carly’s duties include assisting with conducting and teaching of the Golden Band from Tigerland, Bengal Brass, Symphonic Band, Symphonic Winds, Wind Ensemble, and undergraduate conducting courses. Carly is a student of Dr. Damon Talley.
Prior to joining the graduate staff at LSU, Carly served as a director at Sullivan South High School in Kingsport, TN. She also served as the Band Director at Mater Brighton Lakes Academy in Orlando, FL. While in Orlando, she founded a 5-12 band, choir and general music program. She holds a Master of Music degree in Wind Conducting from West Chester University, where she studied under Dr. Andrew Yozviak. While at West Chester, Carly was an active member of the wind ensemble, Criterion’s jazz ensemble and new music ensembles as a trombonist. She also holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from East Tennessee State University.
Carly actively serves as a clinician, educator, arranger and instructor for conducting, drum major lessons, and brass instruction. She is professionally affiliated with the National Association for Music Education, Kappa Kappa Psi, Pi Kappa Lambda and Alpha Omicron Pi.
