
Daniel Cook is currently a founding member of the Department of Institutional Research and Innovation at Oxnard Union High School District. He began his journey out of the classroom as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) where he served the staff in supporting technology implementation, hosting professional development, mentor new teachers, and provide support with data collection and disaggregation to best support instruction at Camarillo High School and is part of the Oxnard Union High School District Instruction Support Services Department.
Prior, Daniel had served as a music teacher for 12 years, most recently the Music Director at Adolfo Camarillo High School where he helped grow the program to 3 jazz ensembles, 3 wind ensembles, begun the revival of the string orchestra, and added a Digital Music Production pathway and the development digital music lab with Sound Engineering capstone course. Daniel is an active judge and has served as a mentor judge for SCSBOA in the Visual Caption and effect caption for nearly 15 years and has also been involved in other esteemed organizations like Winter Guard Association of Southern California (WGASC), West Coast Performance Association (WCPA), San Joaquin Valley Colorguard and Percussion (SJVCGPR), South Valley Winter Arts Association, and independent jazz festivals. Daniel has been invited to judge LAUSD, SJVCGPR, and SCSBOA championships more than 10 times in his time of being an adjudicator and has been a visual designer and show coordinator for over 17 years serving ensembles of all sizes and developmental levels.
Mr. Cook is also an active presenter at many conferences across the country and has most recently presented on Equitable Grading Practices and Aligning VAPA Standards in the Gradebook as well as Cross-Curriculum Articulation of Wind Band Literature. Mr. Cook has been a participant in the Conn-Selmer VIP Institute where he was fortunate to work with Frank Troyka. He also had the fortune of participating in a Conductors Symposium in Riverside with clinicians Dr. Mitch Fennell of California State University, Fullerton, and Jerry Junkin of University of Texas, Austin.
Mr. Cook serves on the board of Pulse Inc. to serve the WGI World Class Champions Pulse and World Class Finalist Pulse Open World (POW). He is also the Vice President of Gold Coast CUE, a local affiliate of CUE, a tech forward organization to support teachers.
Daniel resides in Camarillo, CA with his wife Nicole and their daughter’s Bailee Rae, Ruth Jude, and Golden Retriever Ella.
