
Chris Janowiak is in his sixteenth year of teaching and his second as Associate Director of Bands at West Ottawa Schools in Holland, MI.
Prior to his recent appointment, Janowiak was the director of Bands at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, TN. In Janowiak’s time at Ravenwood, the band program saw significant growth. After starting with only one functioning concert ensemble in 2018, the program now comprises over 200 students and features four independent concert ensembles. The program also consists of the competitive marching band, two jazz bands, winter percussion group, along with JV and varsity winter guards. The marching band nearly tripled in size in Janowiak’s first three years, has consistently won regional competitions, and is a frequent BOA Regional Finalist. In 2022, the Marching Band was the recipient of the Tennessee Governors Cup as the Grand Champion of the prestigious Contest of Champions. In addition, the band has performed alongside of country music superstar, Thomas Rhett, at the Country Music Association Awards live television broadcast in Nashville, TN.
Prior to his arrival at Ravenwood, Janowiak served in similar positions at Mattawan High School (MI), and Antioch High School (TN). Chris is a graduate of Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. He is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Lipscomb University. Chris and his wife, Lindsay, live in Holland, MI with their children, Elloise and Eagan, and their french bulldog, Yoda.
