
Riaz Mohammed is an accomplished music educator and program leader with over a decade of experience in secondary fine arts education in the state of Texas. He most recently served as Associate Director of Bands at Coppell High School, following his tenure as Associate Band Director at James Bowie High School in Austin and as Assistant Band Director in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.
Ensembles under Mohammed’s direction have earned consistent superior ratings from the University Interscholastic League and have been recognized nationally, including a Commended Winner Citation of Excellence from the Foundation for Music Education and the Medal of Distinction by the G.I.F.T.S. Organization in 2023. This has led to high-profile performances at regional, state, and national stages, such as the Bands of America circuit, an invitation to the 2019 PASIC Convention with the James Bowie Steel Drums ensemble, the 43rd annual Western International Band Clinic, and the 76th annual Midwest Clinic with the Coppell High School Wind Symphony.
An active adjudicator and clinician, Mohammed has also contributed to the professional development of music educators through presentations at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention and Texas Bandmasters Association and by serving students and programs such as the Music for All Summer Symposium and the Texas State University Summer Band Camps. He maintains professional affiliations with the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and the National Eagle Scout Association.
