
Riaz Mohammed currently serves as Associate Director of Bands at Coppell High School and comes from his role as Associate Band Director at James Bowie High School in Austin, Texas. Prior to Bowie, Mr. Mohammed was an Assistant Band Director in Cypress Fairbanks ISD.
Ensembles under Mr. Mohammed’s direction have been consistently awarded superior ratings by the University Interscholastic League, and in 2019, the James Bowie HS Symphonic Winds was named a Commended Winner of the Citation of Excellence award by the Foundation for Music Education. Bands under Mohammed’s direction have been recognized at the Regional, State and National level in both the Bands of America and UIL circuits. In addition to this, Mr. Mohammed assisted with the Steel Drums program at James Bowie, which was invited to perform at the 2019 PASIC Convention as well as the Coppell High School Wind Symphony which performs at the 76th Annual Midwest Clinic.
Mr. Mohammed holds a professional affiliations with the Texas Music Educators Association, the National Eagle Scout Association, and the Texas Bandmasters Association. Additionally, over the course of the last 8 years, Mr. Mohammed also has worked as a staff member at the Music for All Summer Symposium as well as the Texas State University Summer Band Camps.
