
Originally from Norwalk, CT, Kevin Lam began studying horn with Robert Brewer in high school before attending the University of Connecticut, where he earned his degree in Music Education in 2009. At UConn, he studied with Robert Hoyle, served as principal horn in both the Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra, and co-founded the Armonia Brass Trio. In 2008, the trio received a grant to research chamber performance practices with professional musicians in Barcelona, Zurich, Geneva, and Milan.
Kevin went on to earn a Master of Music degree in Horn Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2011, studying under Michael Thornton. As a graduate assistant to the horn studio, he performed with the Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra, taught performance and education majors, and played with the Flatirons Brass Quintet. In May 2011, the quintet served as artists-in-residence at Renmin University of China in Beijing, presenting recitals and master classes.
Kevin marched with the Crossmen (2005) and the Boston Crusaders (2007), and has taught numerous marching ensembles across Connecticut, including the 7th Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. He is an active music adjudicator with USBands.
Since 2011, Kevin has been the Instrumental Music Director at Valley Regional High School and Group Lessons Teacher at John Winthrop Middle School in Deep River, CT. Kevin resides in Guilford with his wife and their three kiddos.
