Dillon Junkin

Dillon Junkin is currently in his 5th year as an Assistant Director at McCallum High School in Austin, TX, where he oversees the Marching Band and Non-Varsity Symphonic Band. His roles also include assisting the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Non-Varsity Orchestra, and Lamar and Kealing Middle School Bands. The Marching Band was a Finalist at the 2025 5A State Marching Contest. The McCallum Wind Ensemble finished 8th in the 2023 TMEA 5A Honor Band contest, and McCallum High School was named the 2024 Texas Bandmasters Association Exemplary High School Band Program. Prior to his time at McCallum, Mr. Junkin spent 2 years as an Assistant Director at Alvin High School, where he oversaw the Mighty Yellowjacket Marching Band and Symphonic Winds, while also teaching the AP Music Theory Course.

Mr. Junkin holds Bachelor of Music Degrees in Music Education, with an emphasis in Trumpet, and Music Composition from Texas Tech University. He is currently the Brass Caption Head at Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps from Austin, TX and has served on both the Visual and Brass staff since 2019. Mr. Junkin marched with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps from 2015-2018.

Mr. Junkin is an active choreographer and clinician in the Central Texas area. He is a Houston native but proud Austin resident, and is an advocate for the support of art and music education in urban and rural school districts.
