James completed a Bachelor of Music, Magna cum Laude, from the Hartt School of Music; Master of Music from SUNY at Purchase; Artist Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto; Master of Administration and Supervision from Montclair State University, and Doctor of Educational Leadership from College of Saint Elizabeth.
Dr. Riley has been active in the pageantry arts since he began with the New York Skyliners in 1989. He was the youngest examiner ever appointed to the Royal College of Examiners and has been an adjudicator for outdoor and indoor circuits in both the US and Canada. He has worked as program designer, music arranger, brass caption supervisor, caption head, staff coordinator, music and marching clinician and consultant for several high schools and drum corps.
Dr. Riley resides in New Jersey with his wife and two children, and is currently the School Business Administrator in a NJ school district.
