Evan Berry

Evan S. Berry is a music educator, band clinician, and frequent adjudicator for marching and concert bands. A veteran teacher of over 10 years, he is in his third year as Director of Bands at Pieper High School in San Antonio, Texas after opening the school in the fall of 2021. At Pieper, he is responsible for direction of the Pieper Band of Warriors Marching Band, multiple concert ensembles, jazz band, and the co-direction of the symphony orchestra. In addition to his responsibilities at Pieper, Evan is a current member of the brass educational faculty with the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps. Within Drum Corps International, Evan has also taught with the Crossmen and Cadets. Previously, Evan was an assistant band director at James Madison High School, Byron P. Steele II High School, and served as Director of Bands at Douglas MacArthur in the greater San Antonio area.


Originally from Washington D.C., Evan attended River Hill High School in Clarksville, Maryland.  In the spring of 2013, he graduated from Duquesne University's Mary Pappert School of Music with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and a concentration in trumpet.  


In performance, Evan was a member of the Duquesne Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Lab, and athletic bands.  While a student at Duquesne, he studied with Charles Lirette, Co-Principal Trumpet of the Pittsburgh Symphony, and previously with Stuart Smith, former trumpet with the San Antonio Symphony.  Additionally, Evan was a member of the Jersey Surf and Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps between 2007-2012.Â
