
Bruce is from Binghamton, New York and holds a Bachelors of Arts in History from SUNY Potsdam and a Masters of Arts in Student Affairs along with a Masters Certificate in International Student Affairs from Western Kentucky University.
He has been involved with the marching arts for over 20 years. During that time he has been a performer with the Mexico Academy Marching Band from 2000-2005 (Baritone 2000-2003, Color Guard 2004, 2005) & Lakeside Senior Winter Guard in 2012 (NECGC Senior Gold Medalist), Staff member with Lakeside IA Winter Guard in 2009 (MYCGC IRA Bronze Medalist) & 2012 (MYCGC IA Bronze Medalist) , Allure Visual Ensemble in 2010 (MYCGC IA Silver Medalist) & 2011 (MYCGC IA Bronze Medalist) and Mexico Academy Winter Guard in 2014 & 2015 (NECGC RA Silver Medalist), and was the director of SUNY Potsdam Expressions winter guard in 2007 & 2008.
He has been a member of the New York State Federation of Contest Judges since 2018 and currently judges for the Mid York Color Guard Circuit (MYCGC), Northeast Color Guard Circuit (NECGC), New York State Field Band Conference (NYSFBC), Keystone Indoor Drill Association (KIDA) and Cavalcade of Bands. He has served on championship judging panels for the MYCGC in 2023, NECGC 2019, 2022, and Cavalcade of Bands in 2022, 2023. He finds judging an awarding experience that helps students and staffs grow in an activity that he is passionate about. When he is not judging he enjoys doing jigsaw puzzles, retro game collecting, and traveling.
