Christopher Williams

Chris was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard mellophone section in 1994. He was a member of the visual staff from 95-99, starting to run the visual ensemble in 97, and was responsible for writing the drum solo drill for the corps in the 98 season. He returned to DCI working with the Vanguard Cadets from 02-08, Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps from 10-13 as a visual consultant and as Assistant Corps Director for the 2014 season.
Chris has taught, been a clinician, or designed for bands all over the country. He has won 2 DCI world championships (World Class SCV 99 & Open Class SCVC 08 respectively) and has various top 3 finishes in both Open and World Class. He was the head visual instructor/designer for the Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band from 1997-2010. He has been a Head Judge and State Finals visual judge for the California State Band Championships and is currently Director of Operations for the circuit. He is a designer, and consultant from California to New York and continues to clinician for groups throughout the state.
Chris is a graduate of California State University, Fresno. He was a member of the Psi-Chi National Psychology Honor Society and a 2-year Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Scholar. Chris played in the university’s top Wind Ensemble as a euphonium player under the direction of Dr. Lawrence R. “Doc” Sutherland and was a member of the Fresno State Alumni Association Board of Directors for 5 years and is the author of the newly published collegiate textbook/resource book: “The Contemporary Music Educator, Focus: Programming and Show Design” with the second focus book: Practical Applications and Best Practices for Successful High School Music Educators, Program Management, Facilitation, and Advocacy just newly released.
