Rick Stetson is a professional musician and music educator based in South Jersey, with extensive experience in both performance and instruction. He has served as an adjudicator for USBands since 2019, bringing his expertise and insight to the marching arts community.
Rick holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where he studied orchestral percussion under Joseph Tompkins and Kyle Zerna of the New York Philharmonic. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University.
Currently, Rick is the Elementary School Band Director in the Penn-Delco School District in Aston, Pennsylvania. Prior to this role, he served as the Band Director and General Music Teacher at Northley Middle School within the same district.
Rick has over a decade of teaching experience in the drum corps and indoor percussion circuits. His instructional roles include working with Cadets2 Front Ensemble (2014–2015), Cadets Winter Percussion (2014–2016), and The Cadets Front Ensemble (2018, 2019, and 2023). Rick is currently an instructor for the George Mason University Indoor Drumline for the 2025-2026 season.
Beyond DCI, DCA, and WGI, Rick has contributed as an instructor and arranger for numerous high school marching bands and indoor drumlines. From 2016 to 2018, he was the Assistant Marching Band Director and Director of Indoor Drumline at Cumberland Regional High School. He has also worked with ensembles at Old Bridge, Woodbridge, Robbinsville, Edison, and Clearview Regional High Schools.
