Paul Feldman’s musical career first started with him learning trumpet at the age of nine. His time as student of the North Penn School District was highlighted by his achievement of the Rick Kerber Award for Best Trumpet Solo at the 2008 Cavalcade of Jazz Championships, student leadership for the North Penn Marching Knights, and participation in the 2009 Pennsylvania State Concert Band and the 2010 Pennsylvania State Wind Ensemble. From there, he attended West Chester University where he majored in Instrumental Music Education and Performance with a Jazz Studies Minor and graduated with a Bachelor of Music and Magna Cum Laude honors. His trumpet instructors included Dr. Jean Christophe Dobrzelewski, Rob Skoniczin, and John Swana, as well as additional instruction from Matthew Gallagher and George Rabbai. Paul maintained a high level of involvement within the program and achieved such honors as participation in the 2012 Semi-Finals of the National Trumpet Competition, 3rd Prize in the 2013 West Chester University Trumpet Competition, receipt of the 2014 Michael Falcone Jazz Scholarship, and performance with such legends as Bobby Shew, Guillermo Klein, Joey Tartell, Charlie Sepulveda, and Randy Brecker during his 5 years of membership in the Criterions Jazz Ensemble.
Upon graduating, Paul took a variety of music teaching roles in such districts and schools as Whitehall-Coplay, Southeast Delco, Baltimore County Public Schools, and Kellman Brown Academy. Since then, he also became a private piano, guitar, and electric bass instructor at DeVoe’s Music in Lansdale, the very location where Paul first started his private instruction in both guitar and trumpet.
Currently he private teaches piano and guitar through MusicTeacherGuy and trumpet through Musically Inclined Music Lessons, in addition to teaching trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, recorder, harmonica, ukulele, and music theory/composition as a freelance private instructor. Simultaneously, he continues to maintain activity as a performer in such groups as the West Chester University Criterions Alumni Jazz Ensemble, the West Chester University Golden Rams Alumni Marching Band, the Penn View Brass Band, and the Verdi Band of Norristown. Furthermore, he is a music adjudicator with USSBA, a company that promotes excellence and achievement through marching band and pageantry, in addition to being an active networker and musician on the scene. As a dedicated and passionate musician, Paul believes in creating change through life’s musical pathways and looks forward to continued journey with Musically Inclined Music Lessons, MusicTeacherGuy, and Musical Pathways, his three private teaching businesses.
