Mr. Lampkin began judging in 1977 after marching and teaching for many years. He is former President of the NY-PENN Color Guard Circuit. He was also Vice President of the New York Federation of Contest Judges and their Color guard Caption Facilitator. He has judged for WGI since 1980, judged his first World Championship in 1981 and has judged or been Chief Judge every year since, except for Covid year!

He ha also judged for DCi, DCA, USBANDS, and marching band and color guard events in over 30 states.

Mr Lampkin is married and has 2 sons and 3 wonderful grandsons. He also breeds, raises, trains and shows Papillons, who are the royal dog of France.
