
Tina Sochia [Beaver Dams, NY] received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from West Chester University, PA and Masters of Music in Wind Conducting at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst under Malcom Rowell, where she was also graduate assistant to the Minuteman Marching Band and Concert Band. She has also studied Wind Conducting under Craig Kirchhoff, Carl St. Clair, H. Robert Reynolds, and Steven Peterson. Ms. Sochia has performed with the Crossmen and Rochester Crusaders Drum Corps as well as having directed and taught at several Field Conductor camps in Virginia, Massachusetts, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. She has taught Concert Bands, Marching Bands, Jazz Bands, Pit Orchestras and Winter colorguards as a teacher in the Katonah-Lewisboro, Union-Endicott, Dundee and Horseheads New York School districts. Her guards have been national finalists. Ms. Sochia is recently retired from the Horseheads School District having taught and/or directed the marching band for twenty-two years and conducted the Level 6 Gold with distinction Wind Ensemble, among other music responsibilities.
Presently Ms. Sochia continues to adjudicate Winter Colorguards and Marching Bands as a member of the New York Federation of Contest Judges, USBands, and MAIN circuits. and Bands, Orchestras, Jazz Bands, Woodwind solos and small ensembles as a NYSSMA adjudicator. She has presented at the NYSSMA winter conference. Ms. Sochia has performed with many community orchestras and bands, is a member of ACB and is the conductor of the Corning Area Community Concert band.
