Lansing is an elementary band director in the Syracuse City School District in Syracuse NY. Prior to teaching band in the SCSD, he taught general music with a focus on STEAM initiatives and music technology. Previously, he was the Director of Athletic Bands at Carroll University where he helped form the new “Pride of the Pioneers” Marching Band and the University Pep Band in its inaugural year. He is a former Band and Orchestra teacher at Waukesha North High School in Waukesha, WI where he taught the 14 time State Champion “Northstar” Marching Band, wind ensemble, concert band, orchestra, pit orchestra, music technology, guitar and music appreciation. During his time at Waukesha North, the marching band was extremely active in Bands of America Regionals and Championship performances and other competitive performances in Illinois and Minnesota. He is also the past director of the New Berlin (WI) Community Band.

Lansing has over 30 years in the marching arts activity, including marching, teaching, and administration with the Brigadiers (DCA), River City Rhythm Drum And Bugle Corps, and Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps and leading, designing and consulting for bands, drum corps and winter guards throughout his career. He is active as an adjudicator for solo and ensemble festivals, concert festivals and marching arts competitions through USBands, NYSFCJ and independent contests in Illinois, as well as clinics and workshops on integrating technology in music education at the Midwest Clinic, NYSSMA, WMEA and NBA-Wisconsin Chapter conferences.

A native of central New York, Lansing holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education and a Masters in Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation from Syracuse University. He is also trained in audio engineering and production with the goal of combining his knowledge and skills in the band, orchestra and marching arts with sound recording, engineering, and design.
