Tim Daniels has been the Director of Bands at Norwin High School since 2013. His duties include directing the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble as well as teaching AP Music Theory and Music Technology classes. During his tenure, the Marching Band has been named a Bands of America Regional Champion, BOA Grand National Semi-Finalist, PIMBA Champion, USBands Class VI Open National Champion, and was the 2021 Bands of America Grand National Class 2A Champion. Under his direction, the Norwin Wind Ensemble receives consistent Superior ratings at PMEA Music Performance Assessments. The Wind Ensemble recently performed at the 2023 PMEA State Conference in Pocono Mountain, PA, and at the 2017 NAfME All-Eastern Division Conference in Atlantic City, NJ.

Prior to joining the staff at Norwin, Tim served as a Band Director in the Arlington School District in LaGrangeville, NY where he directed 9th Grade Band, Jazz Band and assisted with the marching band. Tim has also served in various capacities on the band staffs of the Fox Chapel, Gateway and Penn-Trafford marching bands. In addition to this experience, Mr. Daniels spent the summer of 2009 marching with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mr. Daniels received his B.M. in Music Education, trumpet applied, from Youngstown State University. His primary teachers included Dr. Stephen L. Gage, Dr. Brandt Payne, Dr. Christopher Krummel and Dr. Kent Englehardt. He holds a Masters Degree in Music Education from Duquesne University and is currently a Ph. D Candidate in Music Education at Kent State University. Active as a researcher, Mr. Daniels recently presented original research at the 2021 NAfME Eastern Division Conference, and the 2025 OMEA Professional Development Conference. Research interests include competition and evaluation in music education, marching band adjudication practices, and democratic practices in music classrooms.

Tim is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, Ohio Music Education Association, International Society for Music Education, Westmoreland County Music Educators Association and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Mr. Daniels is active as a marching band adjudicator throughout the country. In addition to his responsibilities at Norwin, Tim enjoys performing and plays as a freelance trumpeter in the Pittsburgh Area and performs with the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds in Greensburg, PA.
