Trent Newton is a resident native of southern California and has been adjudicating the pageantry arts for over 30 years. A graduate of Cal State University, Long Beach; holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Master’s in Education, Pupil Personnel Services from Azusa Pacific University. Prior to retirement in 2024, Mr. Newton was director of bands in Murrieta Valley Unified School District for 2001-2024 Prior and was director of bands at Valley View H.S. in Moreno Valley from 1990-2001. His ensembles performed at both local and national levels, capturing consistent Superior ratings. As a clinician and adjudicator throughout Southern California since 1995, Mr. Newton adjudicates marching bands across the United State for SCSBOA, USBands, Western Band Association and multiple other state organizations. He was honored in 2019 by SCSBOA with the Outstanding Field Adjudicator Award. In 1991, he was Moreno Valley USD’s nominee to California for the “Sally Mae First-Year Teacher-of-the-Year” award and the 2006-2007 Murrieta Valley USD representative to Riverside County for Teacher of the Year. In both 1994 and 2000 he was the recipient of the School Board’s “Distinguished Leadership Award”. Mr. Newton holds memberships in SCSBOA, MENC, CMEA and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He is also a proud alumni of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps. Beside Music Education and the marching activity, Mr. Newton is PASSIONATE about the outdoors and often enjoys RV camping whenever and wherever possible!
