Born and raised in Massachusetts, Michael marched with his high school marching band playing the Alto Sax. In his junior year he discovered Winter Guard and marched with his high school winter guard, Triton Regional.
While working on his graduate degree in Biology, he became the guard instructor for Woburn High. In 1988 Woburn became a finalist in the High School Open Class at WGI. Michael also marched in the Matador Winter Guard.
Michael moved to Sacramento, CA in 1989 and worked with the Freelancers Winter Guard. In the mid 90s he worked with Folsom High School Band and Colorguard, and started their first competitive Winter Guard.
In 2000 he moved to San Francisco, CA, and he also started his judging career. He has worked with WGI, WBA, WGASC, and multiple other circuits across the country.
He now resides in Fresno, CA, and works for a company that specializes in Heart Failure therapy. Michael completed his MBA in 1999, and in Oct 2025 finished his Master of Public Health Degree at Boston University.
