Ryan is an active marching arts instructor, visual designer, consultant and clinician, having worked with more than thirty-five competitive ensembles in California, Colorado and Hawaii. His groups have earned high visual performance awards, state titles, and have been BOA Regional Finalists & Class Champions. Through these experiences, he has been fortunate to work with, and learn from, some of the brightest minds in the activity.
As an adjudicator, Ryan has served as a chief judge, lead visual caption judge and on multiple circuit, regional and state championship event panels across the country. He has judged marching bands, color guards, indoor percussion & indoor winds units in Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Texas, Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Maryland, South Dakota, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois and throughout California (for the Western Band Association, Bands of America, USBands, and many more).
He has many ties with the Sacramento Mandarins organization, as an alumnus, visual instructor for the finalist drum corps, indoor winds drill designer/choreographer and a program director for the Mandarins Music Academy, which serves instrumental music classes to over one thousand students at more than forty elementary schools in Northern California. He has also studied movement and performance with multiple dance studios and musical theatre companies. Other affiliations include being a past guest on the Marching Roundtable Podcast, featured in Halftime Magazine and is a part of the Winter Leadership Team for the Northern California Band Association. Ryan holds an associate’s, a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Business Administration, with a minor in Music.
